Career Plan Building Activity
In this paper, I had to complete “My Career Plan Activities,” through University of Phoenix, and from the results I am more vigilant to my strengths, but also the weaknesses that can prevent me from being more effective to an organization and its employees. Management has to identify his or her underlying strengths and weaknesses to adapt accordingly with certain situations as a manager. Based on the career competencies assessment I discovered that everyone has intra and inter-personal components. Intra-personal competencies refer to oneself; to include anticipation, aptitude, comprehension, and stress tolerance. Inter-personal competencies deal with oral and written communications, and the ability to build relationships. Personally, as a manager I would place significant emphasis on building and cultivating professional relationships with other departments and employees.
To work with the different functioning areas there are three things to remember when communicating, which are, you, the audience, and the message. The audience is most important because as the manager I have to know employee tasks and responsibilities within the organization. Also communication techniques that I need to enhance are my expressions and understanding the audience. Honesty and truthfulness is an important asset in the workplace, therefore, in becoming a better manager I need to speak clearly and be precise on the subject at hand. I do not want the
